Weaver and Fiber Artist

Color, it’s all about color. The interplay of colored yarns and the complexity of the various weaving structures never fails to fascinate me. I have been working/playing with fiber ever since I was a young girl leaning to embroider and sew with my grandmother; and when I discovered weaving at the University of Wisconsin, Madison I was hooked.

I have woven clothing, rugs, household textiles, and wall hangings. I am currently exploring rag rugs, the ultimate frugal utilitarian fabric, but one with deep and honorable traditions behind it, and also an amazing potential as an outlet for playing with color and subtle imagery.

The utilitarian quality of woven structures appeals to me – that what I produce is not only an attempt to make life more beautiful but to make it more comfortable as well gives meaning to what I do. I stand proudly in the long line of weavers who have brought both color and texture to the necessities of life.
